After receiving my pilot certificate and flying around the NYC area on a regular basis for about two years, the thrill of it all has worn off a little.
I am way too old to make a career out of flying and find that this hobby is not exactly cheap. So I’ve decided to make the most out of things by trying to learn as many new facets related to flight as I can in the most efficient way.
Next on my list is the transition to the G1000 all glass cockpit. My local flight school as a late model C172SP that is G1000 equipped. I’ve worked thru the informative "Cleared to Flying the Garmin G1000" computer course and have practiced with the G1000 simulator software. It turns out that MS Flight Sim X has a G1000 equipped C172 that comes pretty close to the real thing. So it should not be too hard to transition to a glass cockpit, especially since this is just for VFR, for now. I’ll be taking my first in-flight transition lesson next week and will post any news relating to this when I get around to it.
