Number of Presidential candidates that question Evolution’s role in the development of life on earth: Three (3). We are now down to one, Mike Huckabee, since the other two dropped out of the "race".

Is it fair to call someone an idiot for questioning the reality of Evolution? No. People can believe whatever they want to believe. If Mike Huckabee wants to deny the existence of Gravity next, after warming up with Evolution, he is welcome to do so. But these irrational positions automatically disqualify that person from receiving my vote for pretty much any position that requires critical thinking skills, such as, for example, the office of President of the United States of America.

Incidentally, I would not be surprised if Mr. Huckabee carries the Republican Presidential Caucus vote in Iowa tonight. Which bring me to my next question: What do the U.S. and Turkey have in common? About the same number of adults in both of these countries reject Evolution’s role in the development of life on earth.

In the U.S., only 14 percent of adults think that evolution was "definitely true," while about a third firmly rejected the idea. Embarrassing, isn’t it? Well, ok, President Bush is truly a "man of the people" on this one: He seems to think there is some kind of scientific controversy regarding the "Theory of Evolution" and called for the teaching of "Intelligent Design" alongside Evolution in our classrooms. Please, please go back to clearing shrubs in Texas, dude. That is your calling.

I personally support Barrack Obama’s candidacy and predict that he will come out ahead of John Edwards and Hillary Clinton in Iowa’s archaic Caucus spectacle tonight. Hard to say whether the US is ready for an (almost) black President, but even if Mr. Obama does not make the final cut it seems that anyone must be better than the corrupt and Anti-American Executive leadership gang that is currently in charge of things. Have a look at this TPM article on scandalized officials of the Bush administration and you get what I’m talking about.

Do you think that Legalized Torture and Indefinite Detention without Legal Recourse are compatible with American ideals? Our current President seems to.
