As predicted, Barack Obama carried the Iowa Democratic Caucus last night, followed by Edwards and Clinton. It now looks as if the next US Democratic Presidential nominee is either going to be black or female. If you believe like I do, that diversity is beneficial to society, then this is very good news.

The most remarkable item about last night’s events in Iowa may be the record high Democratic voter turnout.

This article in the Des Moines Register does a great job of capturing the mood that propelled Obama to first place in Iowa last night. I have high hopes that this trend continues.
