Obama a "leftist"?

Had a little time on my hands this morning and scanned some right-wing blogs (see list below). To my surprise the consensus on the right fringe seems the be that Barack Obama is some kind of leftist. Huh? Can think of two explanations for this lack of fact-based thinking:

a) Painting Obama as a leftist will scare voters away and make him unelectable, i.e., its a conscious strategy to influence the election.

Fun times ahead

Our glorious leader just announced that the budget deficit for fiscal year 2009 is expected to reach 480 billion dollars. Nice going. Eat less and don’t eat meat!

Want to save energy and be good to the environment? Kill yourself! Just kidding.

Seriously, go veggie. A study published in the New Scientist suggests that energy costs used to produce food and transport it from place of production to consumer could be halved if you eat less and switch to a vegetarian diet. I’m all for it!

Summertime

Summer seems to be a time when not much works gets done. Case in point: This journal has not been updated for a while now.

Several things happened recently that are worth commenting on: Barack Obama’s shift to the right is deplorable but not unexpected. His vote in favor of the Bush FISA law cost him my financial support.
