I am not making this up. Read this:
Rush Limbaugh is the Batman of the airwaves. The reason Rush is celebrating 20 years on the air and is being rewarded with that great contract is precisely because he has the same qualities as Batman. Rush Limbaugh is a conservative rebel, instinctively so. He believes in the power of the American dream. Most importantly, he lives it, right down there in his own Bat Cave, his “Southern Command.” He is completely unafraid to say exactly what’s on his conservative mind, and couldn’t care less what his liberal establishment critics say about him. Like Batman, he runs on his instincts, hopping into his broadcasting Batmobile daily and saying forthrightly that he knows what’s wrong and how it should be fixed.
Taken from The American Spectator Batman and Rush: Why McCain Will Win. For a good time, read the entire article. Funny and scary at the same time. Picture Rush in a Bat-Suit and you get the idea.
Anyway, politics is in a race to the bottom at the moment and not particularly interesting. Unless you are selling air time to McCain or Obama. In that case you can quickly make a fortune. By this time in the rat race that is the U.S. Presidential Primary more than One Billion Dollars has been spend, most of it to buy TV commercials. So the Presidency of this great nation is decided using the same medium (the Idiot Box) and advertising techniques that sells bubble gum, washing detergent and home-exercise equipment. Sounds like a good plan and the results so far have been convincing, have they not?
Both candidates file monthly fundraising reports. The one for last July is due today and I’ll post some comments on it tomorrow.
