Here a short rant about political labels and how vapid these have become….
What does it really mean when someone says he/she is politically conservative? What does it mean when someone says they are “left-leaning”? Labels like these have no predictive power and are thus completely meaningless.
Traditionally, “conservatives” have this agenda: Limit government, fiscal restraint, conserve resources. Yet, the current U.S. administration has expanded he role of government like no other, has put you, your children and grandchildren in debt like no other and is generally all about consuming the most resources in the shortest amount of time, as long as there is a profit for big oil. They believe it’s up to the government to decide whether or not a woman can terminate a pregnancy and whether of not a loved one can chose to die with dignity. It’s a weird world.
Liberals, or left-leaning individuals are assumed to be for a free-spending, high-taxing, nanny state. But many liberals I know are shocked about the surveillance state, the high amount of spending and debt that is currently instituted under conservative guise. And make no mistake, the only way to reduce the out-of-control spending and debt load of this nation is to increase revenues via…raising taxes.
