What does it really mean when someone says he/she is politically conservative? ماذا يعني حقا عندما يقوم شخص ما يقول انه / انها سياسيا؟ What does it mean when someone says they are “left-leaning”? ماذا يعني عندما يقول احدهم انهم "اليسار - ميل"؟ Labels like these have no predictive power and are thus completely meaningless. العلامات مثل هذه السلطة لا يمكن التنبؤ بها وبالتالي لا معنى له تماما.

Traditionally, “conservatives” have this agenda: Limit government, fiscal restraint, conserve resources. تقليديا ، "المحافظين" هذا جدول الاعمال : الحد من الحكومة ، والقيود المالية ، للمحافظة على الموارد. In between some programming tasks today, stumbled upon this insightful article written by one of John McCain’s fellow POWs. في البرمجه بين بعض المهام اليوم ، تعثر على بصيره هذا المقال الذي كتبه جون ماكين واحدة من اخيه اسرى الحرب. This person was held as a prisoner of war for a couple years longer than McCain and brings an interesting perspective to the choice for President that we face pretty soon. وقد عقد هذا الشخص بوصفه أسير حرب لبضع سنوات أطول من ماكين ويجلب منظور مثيرة للاهتمام لاختيار رئيس للجميلة التي نواجهها في وقت قريب. As per yesterday’s post , all Presidential candidates have filed their monthly campaign contribution reports with the FEC yesterday. حسب ما بعد الامس ، وجميع المرشحين للرئاسة قد قدمت مساهمه الحملة الشهري مع تقارير FEC امس. The US policy in Afghanistan has been a failure and things are starting to go from bad to worse. سياسة الولايات المتحدة في افغانستان كان فاشلا والامور بدأت تذهب من سيء الى اسوأ. I fully support that EVERYONE on this planet should be able to understand one common language, in addition to whatever native language that person happens to be born into. انا اؤيد تأييدا تاما على ان لكل انسان على هذا الكوكب ينبغي ان يكون قادرا على فهم لغة مشتركة واحدة ، بالإضافة الى اللغة الأم ومهما يحدث لهذا الشخص الى ان يكون من مواليد. English is an ideal common second language everyone can share, because it is simple to learn, yet powerful enough to express most ideas. الانجليزيه هي اللغة الثانية والمثل الاعلى المشترك ويمكن للجميع ان حصة ، لأنها بسيطة لمعرفة ، لكنها قوية بما فيه الكفايه للتعبير عن معظم الافكار. Are there any similarities between George W. Bush and John McCain? هل هناك اي اوجه الشبه بين جورج دبليو بوش وجون ماكين؟ What is your take? ما هو؟ Both are white, wealthy men who did not have to do any work to earn much of the money they now enjoy. البيض على حد سواء ، الغنيه من الرجال لم يكونوا مضطرين الى القيام باي عمل لكسب الكثير من المال الذي يتمتع الان. That’s what happened yesterday evening when Senators McCain and Obama discussed their personal lives and the role that faith plays in it. هذا ما حصل مساء امس عندما ماكين واعضاء مجلس الشيوخ وناقش اوباما الحياة الشخصيه والدور الذي تقوم به في الايمان. From a rationalist’s point of view this is a disgusting spectacle, demeaning to both candidates. عقلاني من وجهة نظر هذا هو المنظر للاشمئزاز ، وتحط من المرشحين على حد سواء. I always imagine hiring someone and as part of a job interview asking the candidate about his faith and perceived personal shortcomings. انني اتصور دائما استئجار شخص ما وكجزء من المقابلة الشخصيه في الوظيفة المرشح سؤال عن ايمانه الشخصي وينظر الى أوجه القصور.
